2000 Freightliner 60 series 12.7 I think a DDEC IV. I recently had pressure in the cooling system, after checking all the obvious things, went to Williams for head gasket. Gasket was blown between #4 and #5. Liner heights were good, and no cavitation of liners. I was considering doing an overhaul if I had a sunken liner since the truck has 740,000 miles, but since the liners were all good, and I was told that I had a pretty solid block, I had the head gasket replaced and decided since I never had injectors, that now would be the time. I had a six pack installed, and now is seems that instead of increased power, there is less, and less zip, and acceleration. Dyno showed peak power @445 hp and peak ecm torque @ 1640 ft-lbs, but it doesn't seem to want to accelerate or pull.

Impressive HP readings. I would expect a loss of 15 to 20% because I ran them with both axels and the fan ON. I would also pull it down to 1300 rpm and just sit there for about 1 minute. So a 500 Hp engine should have pulled 400 MInimuin at 1600 rpm and the torque should be full 1650 at 1500 or less. Turbe speed if this was a EGR engine should be around 100K and boost pressure at 40. A non egr engine will not show turbo speed but should be less boost say 32. Instant MPG should have been around 2.5 at 1300 rpm. EGR MPG at 1300 should be around 2.1. If the #'s seem good then maybe they did not tune it up with the overlap procedure. I just quite WWW after 25 years because of poor worknmanship of fellow punk kids and this was allowed. Improper training and procedures cost us all $.

I was told before that the engine was rated 430/470. WWW told me that it is set @ 430/500. I know that the hp at the rear wheels is 80%. Something doesn't sound right!! You would think that if there was 445 @ the wheels the truck would pull pretty good. It ran a lot better with the old injectors with 740k ! It seems sluggish, slow to accelerate, and feels like a drag. I would expect that WWW would know about doing the tune up with the overlap procedure.

I was told just recently not to take my truck to any detroit dealer cause they will set everything to new epa standards, wich means downgrading power. they install low nox codes in the injectors losing a lot of h.p. so this I am told.

Low knox is a program to derate the HP on engines running greater than 1650 on the road. This is to keep the rpm's down to 1600 or below. If you are running at 1750 and I run at 1550 who is saving $$$. The torque value [which pulls hills] is still there.

Yep, I'd put my money on the idea they gave you a new ECM flash with the lonox crap. Check to see if they put a new sticker on the side of your valve cover. Not that they couldn't do it without the sticker, but they wouldn't tell you right anyway because most shops like that no nothing about the different HP programs. If you REALLY want your truck to run to it's potential with a slight increase of fuel mileage, contact Eric @ serious60. Several people on this forum run various versions of what he can provide you. You will wonder how you ever drove your Detroit without it!!
